Daughter of Random

Kaylana came to Amber the same way she returns: in jeans and an outsized concert t-shirt, with a duffel bag over one shoulder and a guitar case in hand.

She was born on Earth; her mother, Patricia Fyfe, remarried and moved to California shortly after Kaylana moved out, and the two are strong-willed enough that they rarely speak these days.

When Kaylana was 18, she spent half the summer on the road. She hitchhiked to first the Dakotas and then the Rocky Mountains for a little rock climbing, and finally across to Seattle to meet up with a friend for a concert they both wanted to see. She's currently based out of the Boston area when she's home; she has a modest, sun-lit apartment with a large number of signed guitars.

The guitar she brings to Amber is an acoustic guitar, one she's named Siddhartha; it's the first one she bought with her own money. The band she's in tends to fluctuate between 3 and 5 members - herself, the drummer (Ashe) and the bass guitarist (Gretchen) making up the three core members. They tend to do a lot of covers, because Kaylana hates writing lyrics but loves writing music and arrangements.

When she's in Amber, the most likely places to find her are in the mountains, where the musicians are, and in the library trying to make her way through histories of Amber. She always spends at least some of her time in town just walking the streets; anyone playing on teh street whose skill she appreciates will get a generous tip (and sometimes asked to teach her a song). Children lurking wistfully outside music shops just might get an instrument and a year's worth of lessons, especially after she had a long chat with the COurt Bard about reputable teachers.

She has remarkably few vices: the occasional drink, the occasional smoke, the occasional f-bomb...
